Ingredients

 1 cup Lentil (Toor Dal)
 1 tsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)
 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
 1 pinch Asafoetida (Heeng)
 1 tsp Chopped Green Chili
 ½ tsp Ginger Paste
 1 qt Chopped Onions
 1 cup Chopped Tomato
 ½ tsp Turmeric
 ½ tsp Paprika (Red Chili Powder)
 ½ tsp Coriander Powder
 ½ tsp Garam Masala
 2 cups Water
 ½ tsp Salt (As Per Taste)
 1 tsp Lemon Juice
 ¼ cup Freshly Chopped Coriander

Directions

To start, first, wash the lentil (Toor Dal) 3-4 times and soak them in water for 20-30 minutes.

Add clarified butter (ghee) in a pan. You can also use vegetable oil.

Now add cumin, Asafoetida, chopped onions to the pan along with Ginger paste and Green Chilies.

Fry till the onions turn golden brown.

Next, add chopped tomato and Fry till the tomatoes are cooked.

So now its time to add all the spices and cook it for a minute. (add water if needed)

After this add lentils, water, salt(as per your taste) and mix together.

Bring to the boil and simmer for about 20 minutes.

Garnish with fresh coriander and a squeeze of lemon or lime juice and enjoy!
